Silence is Golden Hack

  • Hi there, one of my sites has just been hacked – it has changed the theme of my blog. I notice that this code

    <?php
    // Silence is golden.
    ?>

    has been put in my index.php files in my theme folder and in the contents in my ftp. If I simply delete the code will that solve the problem? It would leave me with a blank index file.

  • It shouldn’t since it is just a comment (hence the //). Make sure you back everything up though before you change anything.

    Thanks, Ive just found out that the silence is golden code is not a hack and it should be there. What has happened is that my twenty ten theme has changed/been replaced. I have not touched it and it was fine this morning but now when you look at it, its completely different and not what it should be, here is the site https://jobsindriving.com/

    Ive organised a restore with hostgator but I would like to know what has happened, I can only imagine its a hack – any suggestions?
