Signup referrall points not being added

I’m using the pie register plugin for user registration. The mycred points for signup referrals is active but the referrer’s account doesn’t get credited when a new user signs up with their referral link. All other aspects are working correctly. Each user has a unique I’d and link but they don’t get credited. Why?
