‘Sign in with Google to configure Site Kit’ Loop
-
I’m trying to configure Site Kit on my site, https://kitchentoonz.com. I see the ‘Sign in with Google to configure Site Kit’ page, and proceed through the steps. After I finish them, it just brings me back to that same page. I had Site Kit working on my site before and running auto ads, but after I updated it to https from http I got a permission error. I decided to reset site kit and just configure it again, but now this is happening. My ads have disappeared and I’m unable to get Site Kit back up.
I have tried:
Incognito Browser
Deactivating plugin, uninstalling plugin, logging out, logging in, and then starting from scratch.
Turning off my VPN.
Configuring on a different machine (Linux Mint).
Removing the permissions from Site Kit in my Google Account and then redoing the process and accepting the permissions.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

@sfsporic thanks so much for your detailed report. It sounds like you might be impacted by this issue we’re working on resolving with the setup process.
To rule out other factors:
1) Are you able to share your Site Health Information?
2) Do you know of any security measures: plugin or server implementations like Modsecurity enabled for your site?Hi Renee,
The only sec measure plugin I have is Jetpack. Other plugins I have are Bluehost, OptinMonster API, Site Kit by Google, and WPForms Lite. I have pasted the Site Health information below.

@sfsporic thanks for the info! Feel free to update to the new version 1.3.0 and let us know if it helps. If you can attempt the setup in an incognito browser, caching and security plugins temporarily disabled that could rule out if those are involved. We’ll keep you updated on the progress of this issue being addressed too.
Hi Renee,
Same thing is happening, even with the incognito browser and jetpack disabled.
Interesting to note, when I see the splash screen and click the check box next to ‘Help us improve the Site Kit plugin by allowing tracking of anonymous usage stats. All data are treated in accordance with Google Privacy Policy.’, it gives me a red error stating “Sorry, you are not allowed to edit the _T0T_googlesitekit_tracking_optin custom field.”. When I click the check box again it will check the box and then I run through the process like before. Same results.
@sfsporic thanks for the update. We’ve released version 1.4.0, which doesn’t yet include the fix for the issue you’re encountering. Your issue is a priority fix. I’ll follow up on the thread when it is available.
Okay sounds good.
@sfsporic we released the fix in version 1.5.0. Could you do the following:
1) Update the plugin to the latest version 1.5.0
2) Reset Site Kit
3) Proceed with the setup processLet us know if you are successfully connected.
If you continue to experience an issue, please provide your Site Health info anew (we’ve added a new section for Site Kit specifically that will help us troubleshoot further).
Hi Renee,
I updated the plugin, reset site kit, and then proceeded with the setup process. Same issue, it tells me it successfully set up the site kit, I click the button to take me back to the dashboard, and then it just shows me the sign in with google to configure sitekit page.
Here is the site health info.

@sfsporic Thanks for providing the additional information. Can you follow the steps below and inform me if you are able to proceed with setup?
1. Temporarily switch your “WordPress Address (URL)” and “Site Address (URL)” from https://kitchentoonz.com to https://kitchentoonz.com in your WordPress General Settings configuration. This https > http change should trigger a change in the Site Kit authentication service as you’re already connected
2. Logout of your WordPress admin dashboard
3. Log back in and then undo the changes you made (reverting back to the full address with https
4. Reset Site Kit and attempt setup once morePlease let me know if that works for you.
Hey James,
Looks like it works! Thank you both for consistently following up.
Cheers!
@sfsporic fantastic! Sure thing :). Feel free to leave a review about your experience with Site Kit.
Hello, I have the same problem. I tried the solutions you suggested. But it’s still the same.
@craxiss Can you please open a new support topic as per forum guidelines and we would be happy to assist from there.
Please add as much information to your support topic such as your URL, plugins used or your Site Health Information.
@craxiss friend i fixed this error. Sorry for my poor engilish. I want help you.
I added new steps for you. Follow them.
First switch your “https://” to “https://” in WordPress General Settings configuration.
Now deactivate your all plugins except the site kit plugin. Just site kit must stay active. Deactivate others all.
If you deactivated your all plugins logout from your admin panel and relogin.
Now switch your “https://” to “https://”.
Now connect to your site kit..
If all is ok reactivate your plugins and enjoy.
@ilhangrn thank u very much. after spending hours searching, reading and following all kinds of useless tips to fix the issue, your workaround got at least my looping problem fixed.
