Sideways sales letter theme?

  • Okay I’ve looked for how to do this for a while, can’t find it. I highly doubt there is a template for this.

    If any of you don’t know what a sideways sales letter is, here is what I want to do.

    Create multiple buttons ABOVE a video player, when you click 1 of say 4 buttons ABOVE the video, I want each button to play a different video IN THE SAME VIDEO PLAYER BELOW.

    I want to put an EMBED code in for the video player, have 4 buttons above the video player, say “day 1” “day 2” ect, click the button, and a video plays IN THE SAME WINDOW , 1 window player, 4 buttons, 4 different videos, playing in the same video box, so when you click the button, it plays the video in the same box WITHOUT RELOADING THE PAGE or switching the page.

    I’M LOOKING FOR HOW TO CREATE THIS…

    I’M LOOKING FOR THE THEME….I’M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE IT.

    If I had the theme why in gods name would I be asking this lol.

    To switch videos like that you will need to look into using JavaScript.

    jQuery probably has a few functions that would help you with that, but how you do it will depend on the video player that you decide to use, so you’d need to decide on that first.

    Ill be using wistia, so you upload a HTML or IMBED code into wordpress to upload the video player.

    If you’re uisng Wistia it would make sense to embed a playlist. From there they should have some documentation on how to set up a video chooser or have some sort of API that you can control using JavaScript and your own buttons.

    Please note that I dont use that system, but I’ve just had a look through their documentation for a very quick overview about what can be done.

    Wistia doesn’t put buttons on your wordpress site…that doesnt even make sense.

    WHy would wistia have buttons you can put anywhere on a wordpress site.

    Of course you get whatever code you want from wistia for your video, but HOW DO YOU CLICK A BUTTON, AND HAVE A NEW VIDEO PLAY IN THE SAME VIDEO PLAYER BELOW. Thats the hard part, the same video player.

    You really should ask Wistia about what can be done. I’m sure that they have more options then I know about. Like I said ,I don’t know their systems.

    The example that you’ve given uses YouTube, so it’s not quite the same I think. If you took the time to look at the pages source code, you’d see that the video changing functionality is coming from this file:

    Read through that, and it will tell you exactly how they are doing it.

    I dont know anything about coding…

    Then you’ve got two choices.

    First, learn how o do the coding yourself.

    Second, pay someone else to do it for you.

    That does sound harsh but unfortunately that’s the choices. I’m guessing that you haven’t found anything that can do what you’re after so far so that doesn’t leave much choice. Not everything that you could want has already been done so if ifs not out there now, you need to fill in that gap.

    Sideways sales letters have been around for a while.

    How is there not a genesis child theme for this?

    Because, as I said above…

    Genesis isn’t something that gets discussed around here much because it’s a commercial “theme”. If you’re looking for something relating to that you’re most likely better off asking in their support as you’ll get a better answer.
