Sidebars instead of content

Using Twenty Eleven, I’m creating a homepage of images arranged in three columns. The images will be changed frequently. Would there be any reason not to register left, right and center sidebar widgets and arrange all my content in those?

It would allow me to easily have three columns or more to plug my content into, and would allow a novice to edit the content in those widgets without having to edit posts or pages.
