Sidebar/Post Spacing question.

  • I have a Sidebar question. I’m trying to use it to list my upcoming DJ dates but WP ignores the spaces (ie pressed return after each entry) in the original post. You can what I mean at https://3biza.com I know this is basic stuff but I wondering if I can amend this so I can have a simple upcoming events bar..

  • Looks like you’re using the_excerpt() instead of the_content(). The former strips out all post formatting (including line breaks) unless you provide a manual excerpt via the Option Excerpt field in add New/Edit Post pages.

    Thank you, that sounds exactly right. May I ask how one provides a manual excerpt in the Option Excerpt field (I’m assuming that’s the one entitled Excerpt)?

    Yes – that’s the field. You literally add the text you want to appear as a “teaser” – complete with formatting & images.
