Sidebar.php custom video player embed

try adding the code to a text widget

I tried adding a text widget, and put the code in there, it displays the ‘download flash player’ icon, but not the video (and I do have flash player installed). This is the same thing that happens if I open the sidebar.php file and add the code there.

I know the code works, because in a stand-alone html file, it works. Any thoughts?
