    Hey Folks,

I wanted to remove a sidebar element, so I went to sidebar.php file, made a copy of the code I wanted to remove then deleted from sidebar.php and saved.

The site is still up but no content is showing at all! Holy Moly! So I pasted the code back exactly into sidebar.php file and the site is still not showing properly. HELP?!

I do not have FTP access.

    Site: https://www.coopers-sausage-rolls.co.uk
    Theme: Twenty10
    Wordpress: 3.9.1

    Can anyone advise?

  • What theme are you using? Where did you download it from?

You do need to get FTP access to fix this.

    Hi Esmi,

The theme is Twenty10 but has been modified by the person who had originally modified it years ago.

If I can get the FTP, what is it I need to do from there?
I’m so gutted I even went there now. Just wanted to remove one small box. ??

You need to switch to the default 2014 theme automatically by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

Then you’ll have to correct the problem you created in your old theme. Try checking your site’s error logs for a more specific error message to help track down the problem. Your hosts should be able to help you accessing your site’s error logs.

I’ve just had someone say to Comment out the sidebar in PHP temporarily until they can check it

“You can do that by adding // after the PHP tag and before get_sidebar() in the theme files.”

Could you confirm this is functions.php. and any further advice as to placing this info without making the site worse.

The person who responded was just boarding a plane so no more help until they are back. doh!

    MANY THANKS ??
