• Hi, I installed your plugin and it is very well made!
A very useful feature would be to be able to affix the widget in the sidebar, so that by scrolling the page the widget will always be visible.
    What you think about this?
    Thank you

    Hello!
    This is good idea!
We are planned make this feature in future.

@giannit Just install Q2W3 Fixed Widget and you can make the TOC sticky in the sidebar.

@theluckywp I wouldn’t add this functionality to the plugin. It adds more bloat to the plugin (and JS) for people not using this feature. Typically this is something one needs to add to all widgets below TOC as well, therefore it can not be considered in isolation, but must be controlled by a global plugin controlling all widgets.

@nicoter Yes, in a way you’re right. But often users want to get a solution within a single plugin.

I know. But typically it won’t work for most users because if they have other widgets below the TOC these widgets will not be fixed below the TOC. Unless you’re going to implement a full blown sticky sidebar implementation which also affects other widgets.

So the question is: Do you really want to add this functionality for the very few users and isolated cases (e.g. no additional widgets below the TOC) who want a sticky TOC but are not aware there’s a dedicated plugin which does exactly this better and globally for all widgets?

Other example: I want the TOC to be cached and the CSS and JS to be minified. Of course you could add a caching engine to the plugin to cache the output of the TOC container, but like a sticky sidebar this is something which needs to be tackled globally in WordPress. It wouldn’t really make sense to add this bloat to the plugin.

@nicoter, these are good arguments! We’ll think about it. Thank you!

    Thanks for considering ??

By the way, if you decide to implement it, it would be nice if the additional JS is not loaded for the users which don’t need and enable the sticky function.
