I have installed GridBulletin (replacing another theme) on a website I have been using for years. It is really nice. But I have a problem with the sidebar widget. There is an empty block in the sidebar. If I look at the source, it is labeled id=”block-2″
But when I go to widgets, there is nothing there. Just my 1st and second. I though maybe I had some hidden html, but no, nothing I can find.

    Hi,

So you’re using the new block based widgets.. There must be an empty block there.

Did some testing at my test install. If you add a paragraph text block, but you leave it empty, it will display as an empty widget in the frontend. You can remove this block, by clicking on it, using a single backspace, and resaving the page.

    You’re welcome!

If you don’t like the block based editor or block based widgets, you can turn back to old version by using Classic Editor / Classic Widgets plugin.

Thank You. I installed classic editor and it works well. I like the blocks for images. I used it here: https://www.4tepiano.com/hand-carved-art-case/ .

Then I went back an activated classic and used it to edit.

I like how the block puts them in Div’s and organizes it very well. I hope in the future the block will work better and will be easier to edit.

With the classic editor you can add several galleries underneath each other (3 columns, 2 columns, 1 colums) and this will result in the same layout as now. Meaning, you don’t need blocks for everything. But the classic editor will be removed from WordPress in the future. So it’s wise to use the block editor, although I don’t use it myself ??
