Sidebar On Separate Page ?
-
I’m currently using WP 1.5 beta-1 Jan-10-05
I’m in the process of converting the WP 1.5 default (Kubrick) theme from a dual column (sidebar on right side) to a single column (no sidebar)
Is there a way to create a separate menu page (or sidebar page) with all the sidebar info on it like Search, Pages, Archives, Categories, Links, etc that you can access through a link in a site navigational menu without using the create pages option in the admin panel ?
Example :(Navigational Menu looks like this):
Home | About | Contents |Photos | Contact
When you click on the Contents link, you would get only the sidebar items on a separate single column page.
Under the current dual column WP default (Kubrick theme), if you go to the sidebar and click on the “General” link under the “Categories Section” of the menu, you get a separate page entitled “Archive for the General Category”. The same thing occurs when you click on a month under the “Archives Section”
Using a similar thought process under a single column layout, I would like to be able to go to the navigational menu and click on the “Content” link to get a separate page entitled “Contents” with all the sidebar info.
The reason for wanting to do it this way is because under the WP default theme, the “General” link under the Categories Section does not appear under the “Pages Section” in the sidebar, nor do any months like December, etc. If I use the “Create Pages” option in the admin panel to create a “Content” page, the new Content page appears under the Pages Section in the sidebar, something that I do not want to happen. I would rather the Pages Section include only pages with articles, photos, or whatever, and not include the content page.
Is there a way to do this ? Is there a way to create an “invisible page” that can be accessed via a navigational button (without showing up under the Pages Section) and open in a separate page similar to when you choose the catagory link, or an archive link.
Thanks
