    [I did search on sidebar issues, but have not found a solutuion for this specifically]

    This is what I did:

    1. I followed:
    Appearance –> Customize –> Widgets –> Page Layout: Left Sidebar

    2. I added the Navigation block, and the navigation menu shows up in this WP window.

    3. I Published it, cleared cache, but it does not show on the public page at all.

    Where the sidebar menu should display, the browser reads:
    Please add widgets to the sidebar.

    So how come? The steps above shows I did add a widget. And it still shows in the Widgets window.

    To answer your question, it would be important to know which theme you are using. Because what you are looking for is controlled by the theme and displayed in the frontend. A link to the website could also help to recognise the necessary information. Alternatively, you can also contact the support team for the theme you are using directly.
