sidebar modules not working in 2.6

when i open a sidebar module to edit it, I get a login to the site box. How messed up it that?

Are the designers of these “updates” trying to make it incompatible with any good plugin or theme. ELA is not longer functional, and it was a GREAT archive set up, but it’s not compatible with the newer releases. I use K2 which has it’s own sidebar modules.
