Sidebar menus: collapsing page always expanded

Hi guys
I’d really love to find a solution to my problem. Rob who support the plugin gave me a solution that didn’t work, and I haven’t solved my problem.

Basically no matter how much I change the options in collapsing pages pluging, that I use as a widget for my sidebar menus, the look by default is always expanded. It’s exactly what I wanted to avoid: I wanted a compact, neat look, not all the categories expanded. I’d REALLY appreciate a hack to solve the problem. Even by changing themes the problem stay the same.
The perspective of rebuilding all the menus with another plugin is tedious…
