Sidebar Menu with Multiple Sub Items

I would like to have a sidebar menu that only displays the first subitem until someone clicks on that subitem, at which point the next level of subitems appears.

for example, I would like to have the menu display only the title, which is “shop by attribute” and the 3 sub items, Shop by Color, Who’s It For, and Special Collections.

the second level items would only appear when someone hovers over one of the first level subitems

the primary menu works the way I would like this one to work. Please look at “Learn More About Quilts” then “Quilting Learning Center” to see what I mean.

Also, is there a way to change the size of the text to make the subitems stand out?

Any idea how to make this happen? am I in the wrong forum?
