• Hi.

I am using wordpress for the first time, so my expertise is low.

I am building a web mainly with pages, not entries. I have no bbpress installed, but when I edit a page, I can choose from “default template”, “bbpress create topic” and a few other bbpress options.

My problem is, using the default template, I can see the sidebar menu (left) but also a comment form. If I choose any bbpress template, the form is gone (good) but alse the sidebar menu (bad). I don’t want this form, never, and I’d like a sidebar menu that I can choose for every page.

The theme I’m using is “Techozoid fluid”, which is the only one I found with sidebar menu, but anyone can work.

    thanks in advance

  • Hi Doukeshi,
You can turn off the comments using the option on the “Discussion” panel of the page editing page. If this panel isn’t visible you can display it using the “screen options” tab top right of the screen. You can also select whether or not to show the sidebar on single view pages.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi.

I don’t have the option to disable the comments. So I found a plug-in to disable all coments. That’s ok for now, maybe in the future I’ll want to change that.

About the sidebar menu, yes, there is an option to switch them on or off. But even setting that to “on”, the behaviour changes with the page style, theme… I think it must be related to CSS, which I’m no expert at. Just in case somebody has the same problem, I used the Display Widgets plug-in. I can add menus as widgets, and select at which page I want to see them. The result is that the sidebar menu changes at my convenience. The drawback is that it’s not too comfortable to configure. But for a not very big web like mine, it’s ok.

    best
    Alberto
