I seem to be encountering some technical challenges with the sidebar.
I have created several sidebars in the ‘Misc Settings’ area of Theme Options.
On my Posts Page (which I should point out is not set as as the home page), I have attempted to select one of these newly created sidebars but for whatever reason, upon updating the page, it continues to default to the Primary Sidebar.
I attempted a work-around solution which I thought might circumvent the issue by choosing not to display a sidebar, saving/updating the page and then selecting the preferred sidebar.
However, even when ‘Display Sidebar?’ is de-selected, the page continues to display the Primary Sidebar anyway.
    For reference purposes:
    1) Site Layout Style in the Main Settings of Theme Options is for Wide Site.
    2) Footer Widget Layout is set for 3 Columns
    3) Home Layout is set for Sidebar with only Page Content enabled
    4) In Misc Settings, I have created 10 individual Sidebars for use on various specific pages
Not sure what other setting might be relevant to this issue.
Unable to offer live example links as the site I’m developing is currently being hosted locally via MAMP.
Any insight or suggestions to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration in this regard.

  • Hello! I just tested your issue on my site and I can’t duplicate it. Have you tried clearing your cache after making the changes?

I would first try that to see if it has any effect. Let me know if that works for you and if not I’ll continue looking into it.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
Clearing the cache (all 638 MB of it) didn’t seem to have any impact.
I’ve also noticed that after curating several more articles and stories for the blog that it’s still a bit of hit and miss with getting the external featured image to display on the Blog Post Summary Page. In other words, it seems to work the majority of the time, but not all of the time.
Two stories in particular that I posted to the blog this morning via the Content Curation plugin did not display the featured image on the Post Summary Page whereas they do appear on their respective post pages.
For reference purposes, the two articles originated from the following sources:
    1) https://www.foodbeast.com/news/6-foods-that-one-food-poisoning-expert-will-never-eat/
    2) https://www.canadiangrocer.com/top-stories/offset-high-food-prices-by-throwing-out-less-say-experts-61616

The respective HTML for the featured photos in the Post Editor (for both posts) is as follows:
    1) <img class=”alignleft curated_image” src=”https://cdn.foodbeast.com/content/uploads/2016/01/food-poisining.jpg ” alt=”” />

    2) <img class=”alignleft curated_image” src=”https://www.canadiangrocer.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/foodwaste-lead-360×238.png ” alt=”” />

So the URL for the image source is clearly evident in the HTML code in both cases and as I indicated, the photos do appear both when toggling from the Text (HTML) tab over to the ‘Visual’ tab in the Editor and also in each individual post.
When I navigate back over to the Blog Post Summary Page however, no image and curiously, no standard 600 x 600 px placeholder either. What does appear is the Text Title as an active link back to the respective post page for both stories.
To perhaps get a better idea visually of what I’m trying to explain, I have uploaded a few screen captures to my current web host server which can be accessed here: https://www.shopndeliver.ca/Screenshot-Documentation.pdf
*Note that the provided screenshot example is not based on either of the two posts referred to above but is an entirely separate article. The issue however is identical.
Hope this helps. If there’s anything else I can provide, please let me know.

    Hey,
In your settings > reading. Make sure the “post page” is left blank. By assigning that you are technically overriding the blog-template which controls the sidebar.

In terms of displaying an image with a post summary have you set the posts summary to be portrait image? Or if it’s on default have you made sure the default setting is portrait image in your theme options.

Changed the Reading Setting for Post Page to blank and that did the trick. Thank you.
