• I’ve been tweaking with my sidebar, and all looks good in firefox (as usual), but in IE 6 everything under the small “About” paragraph is hidden!

Tweaks include: added CG-Amazon list, and hid some calls like ‘pages’, ‘archives’ and ‘meta’.

I must point out I’m a complete newbie, so it’s quite possible it’s really obvious to you wordpress geniuses. Thanks.

  • Your site actually doens’t show anything on the sidebar when I view with FF, but in IE6, I can see the search bar and the about section. So whatever you’re doing is actually working in IE and not FF so far.

hmm, seems fine in FF to me… very odd. This is what I’m seeing:

    Any ideas why?

arg, you’re right, I just reloaded the page. Where’s it gone?

Well, I ran a validation check, and it’s got a few missing end tags, so you might want to fix those.

    K. Re-uploaded the original kubrick sidebar.php and style.css. It seems that the problem in IE was one with sidebar.php, and the one in FF was style.css. I really screwed things up didn’t I?

I think you were right, andrea_r, it was probably just sloppy coding. I’ll try to be more careful next time…
Thanks for bailing me out guys.

It could be one of two things. 1, you have an image in the sidebar that’s actually too big. 2, you have some badly coded javascript code. If I were you, I’d remove each one by one and see which is doing it. If the javascript code is a statistics counter or tracker, move it to footer.php. It will look better and your stats will be better.

hmm… all working now, except CG-Amazon, some links below it and the footer in IE. I have commented the ‘Meta’ box to remove it, and have found that by uncommenting it, I can get IE to display the stuff below and the footer. Seems the problem is here, then…

Darn. After all that, it just turns out I was using the wrong comment declaration, with a “!” at either end, not just the opening end.

I knew the solution would be simple.
