    Hi –

When I go to Appearance–>customize–> for my categories posts, I don’t have the option to add a page/front page sidebar.? How can I get the page/front page sidebar to display on a category page?? (I want the “About” section to display on the categories pages, like it displays on all my other pages).

    Thanks

  • Hi @rumraisingelato, great question!

You should be able to add your About section to the default sidebar in order to get it to display on categories as well…if this doesn’t do the trick for you, just let us know and we can dig in further. ??

    Hi –

Thanks, but the issue I have with what you’ve just mentioned is the default sidebar is actually showing up on all my pages- even on the pages that already have dedicated sidebars.

So if I put the “About” section on the default sidebar, I end up with two “About” sections in the sidebar area on the pages that already have dedicated sidebars – e.g. sidebar- page, sidebar -post page. Does that make sense? (I am trying to avoid this).

Appreciate you looking into this further.

I should have been clearer in my initial message – I am trying to get the page/front page sidebar to display on a submenu age? (I want the “About” section to display on the submenu pages, like it displays on all my other pages).

    Thanks

    Hi @rumraisingelato,

That’s correct…the default sidebar does display pretty much across the board. There are a couple of possible solutions if you aren’t wanting to duplicate your widgets:
    1. Remove the About widget from the page specific sidebars so that it only appears in the default one; or,
    2. Use a plugin such as Custom Sidebars to further customize the sidebar/widget combinations and control specific locations.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any additional questions on it! ??

    Hi Steven –

Thank you. I went with your first suggestion and added some custom CSS to make it look like it would have in the page/front page sidebar (i.e. has the same background color and padding.

The second suggestion is good to know (in case I need it for future reference).

    Cheers!
