The right sidebar on inner pages disappeared after an update. Even though Knowledgebase inner pages sidebar is set to “right”, there’s just an empty space where the sidebar is supposed to be. Articles have been categorized already and were showing in sidebar prior to the update.

Issue is present even when we deactivate the child theme. Anything else we should try?

Another piece of information – it appears the sidebar HTML container is generated, but it’s empty.

Hmm sounds like a theme issue or issue with the KB templating system. Can you please post me a link to your Knowledgebase so I can see it and try to help further?

Also, are you on the latest version of the plugin, and did you modify the WPKBE templates at all?

    Thanks,
    Maeve

Hi Maeve, thanks for your reply. Here’s an example of a page that should have a right sidebar but doesn’t (other than the empty space). https://eatoninterpreting.com/support/tips-on-using-interpreters/

I did try deactivating the child theme to see if the custom templates (which are inside the child theme) were having an effect. The customizations disappeared, yet the sidebar did not show up.

Here is a screenshot of my settings that shows I have right sidebar enabled for inner pages. https://www.dropbox.com/s/101pow641hjv5ck/Screenshot%202016-02-05%2014.40.44.png?dl=0

+1 on this. I am experiencing the same thing.

When the plugin is active, my sidebar disappears. When I disable, the sidebar reappears.

For others experiencing the issue, rolling back to v. 1.0.9 seems to resolve the issue with no ill effects.

OK thanks for the info guys, I’ve logged this in our issue tracker over on GitHub and will investigate further. Only seems to affect a very small number of users so not quite sure what hte conflict is just yet… needs more testing.

Nathandiehl, you mentioned the sidebar reappears when you disable the plugin. Is this a WordPress sidebar? The sidebar that disappeared for me was generated by KnowledgeBase. If I disabled the plugin there would be no KB content at all including sidebar.

Oh right, looks like we’ve got our wires crossed. Sounds like @nathandiehl’s issue is a bit different to that of this thread.

    @alaneoutlaw
I’m guessing this is something specific to your theme (the parent theme, seeing as it persists when child theme is disabled). To confirm, please try switching to the default twentytwelve theme for testing. Does the sidebar work? If yes, we have confirmed it is an issue between WP Knowledgebase and your parent theme. If it’s a free theme please let me know the name and URL of the theme so I can test further and try to find the issue. If it’s a custom theme or premium theme, please let me know the name and URL of the theme and also report this to the theme developer.

    Thanks,
    Maeve

@nathandiehl please could you post your own separate thread for your issue seeing as it’s different? Thanks.

Similar to @alaneoutlaw, on my site (https://bangundesa.info/basis-pengetahuan/) the right sidebar on inner pages is not showing. In fact none of the sidebars show, whatever setting I chose (home/inner, left/right). There is empty space where the sidebar should be.

I have switched to the default twentyfifteen theme, but the sidebar still does not show.

Have you got any further with identifying the issue? Thanks.

Ok, figured it out. I was not aware that there is a knowledgebase sidebar widget, which has to be populated with the appropriate knowledgebase widgets.

I have done that now, and the sidebar shows with the appropriate data.

    Thanks.

Yep you need to go to Widgets and add content to the sidebar so that it appears.
