    Hi,

    Thanks for the great plugin!

    I have 4 Categories (63, 64, 65, 66)

When I used the following shortcode to show only Categories 63, 64 and 65, the Sidebar Category List shows all Categories (63, 64, 65, 66).

    [betterdocs_category_grid post_counter="true" icon="true" masonry="true" column="2" posts_per_grid="20" nested_subcategory="true" terms="63,64,65" terms_orderby="" terms_order="" multiple_knowledge_base="" disable_customizer_style="" kb_slug="" title_tag="h2" orderby="" order="" ]

Is there a way to hide Categorie 66 from the Sidebar Category List ?

In fact, I would thing that would be the normal (standard) behavior.

    Hi @ldeschenes ,

I’m sorry to inform you that currently, you can’t control the Category items in Sidebar. The shortcode is only effective for the Docs page and the area that you put on.

Controlling the sidebar category list, that might be a great feature idea. Hopefully, we will work on it in the future.

    Thank you!

    Hi @abidhasan112

You said “Controlling the sidebar category list, that might be a great feature idea.”

In fact I do not want to be able to control the side bar category list. I just want the criteria that is applied in the shortcode (terms=”63,64,65″) to be applied to the entirity of the Docs page including the category list.

That behavior in not a “great feature idea”. It should (must) be the normal behavior. Not doing it to me looks like a buggy design.

If I want to show only certains categories in a specific page to a specific user, I do not want to show all the links to others categories in the Docs page. That enable that user to see Docs that I DO NOT WANT HIM TO SEE.

Why are you making this as RESOLVED ?
It is not resolved! It is still something that must be fix.

Might be resolved for YOU (got rid of the problem and the client) but not for ME.

    Hi @ldeschenes ,

I’m really sorry for the inconvenience. Since this is not possible/not available at this moment hence I’ve resolved this topic. I’ve just marked this topic “Not Resolved”

Well, I understand your use case and your frustration. However, the way you wanted to populate the categories in the sidebar from your previous page shortcode, is not possible actually. I’m explaining why this is not possible:

When you put any shortcode on your page in WordPress, that shortcode will be effective on that page only. Category page and Single Docs page template are different and there is no relation with that shortcode. I hope you understand.

By understanding your use case, I’m assuming, you can actually do this by using Multiple Knowledgebase feature where the sidebar category list will be based on your each KB. Please have a look at this video I made for you: https://d.pr/v/ljrXdw

I hope this solution will best suit for your use case. Since the Multiple KB is a PRO feature of BetterDocs, lets not talk details in ORG forum. If you think the Multiple KB solves your purpose, you can contact us from here: https://wpdeveloper.com/support/new-ticket/

Our team will get back to you and assist you with this.

Thank you and have a good day!

    Hi @ldeschenes ,

I hope you understand my above points. Since I’ve explained the limitation of not being possible to populate the categories in the sidebar from your previous page shortcode, I’m considering this topic as resolved.

    Thank you!

You did confirmed that it cannot be done. In my opinion this is a bad design and you do not want to fix it. Instead you propose that I should pay for the Pro version.

Yes, I did unsderstand vere well. To the point point that I uninstalled the plugin!
