• I am attempting to add a side bar and the customary two widgets to the static front page of a twenty twelve child theme.

    I followed the advice here. I saved this code as front-page.php and uploaded it to my child theme. It does not behave as I had anticipated. The sidebar widgets do appear but at the bottom of the page, not on the side.

    Here is the front page of my site: https://gsewebwp.gse.buffalo.edu/org/clari/

    <?php
    /**

     * in Twenty Twelve consists of a page content area for adding text, images, video --
     * anything you'd like -- followed by front-page-only widgets in one or two columns.
     *

     */

    get_header(); ?>

    	<div id="primary" class="site-content">
    		<div id="content" role="main">

    			<?php while ( have_posts() ) : the_post(); ?>
    				<?php if ( has_post_thumbnail() ) : ?>
    					<div class="entry-page-image">
    						<?php the_post_thumbnail(); ?>
    					</div><!-- .entry-page-image -->
    				<?php endif; ?>

    				<?php get_template_part( 'content', 'page' ); ?>

    			<?php endwhile; // end of the loop. ?>

    		</div><!-- #content -->
    	</div><!-- #primary -->

    <?php get_sidebar(); ?>
    <?php get_sidebar( 'front' ); ?>
    <?php get_footer(); ?>
