Sidebar and Comments popup

So I managed to make a conditional sidebar template. One that shows one group of things when on the main page, and another group when in archives and categories.

Apparently i’ve created a new problem. Ok, so I’m getting no sidebar at all when clicking the “Comments” link at the bottom of the post.

How do I make the sidebar that shows up while the “Comments” pop-up is active inherit the sidebar settings of the particular page? (i.e. Categories, Home, etc.)

Also, can anyone help me get the alignment straight in IE? It seems that there are some width problems or something.
