    Hi Scott,

Using a stock standard Decode v2.8.4, and viewing on a Kindle Fire (original edition), the sidebar is always open. It does not respond to the close X.

I know that the Amazon Silk browser is based upon Webkit, but I have not been able to reproduce the problem with any other webkit browser.

Unfortunately, I do get a fair amount of traffic on Kindles, so this is an issue for my site.

    Any suggestions?

(If it were stuck closed, it would be less of an issue for me, though that wouldn’t actually solve the problem.)

    Steven

  • Just went back to the normal Decode theme, not the child theme and exactly the same behaviour, sidebar stuck open, even with ‘closed by default’ selected.

Funny thing is it works fine on Firefox and IE.

Okay, latest update. Just tried another of my WordPress installations on a different host with Decode on the Chrome browser and it works fine, as you say, out of the box. So, I’ll look further into this issue and report back.

I noticed that the CSS you used was not the original, it had the vendor prefixes removed which caused it to not work in WebKit browsers (Chrome, Safari, etc.) I’m not sure how this occurred for you, perhaps it was a plugin? However that sounds like pretty unintelligent behavior for a plugin.

Well, I must have made some changes somewhere at some point when I was working on something. I uninstalled and reinstalled Decode and it is now fixed again

Many thanks for the quick response and feedback.

No problem. Have a good one!

Hey, this is an absolutely beautiful theme Scott – the way you have the sidebar working like a mobile app is very forward thinking and you have managed to execute it very smoothly. Very happy to be able to use this theme. As soon as my business is pulling in some cash, I’ll sign up for paid support.

It’s all free. There isn’t a paid support tier. If you want to support me, feel free to donate via my site: https://scotthsmith.com/projects/decode/
But that’s all there is to it. Decode and (reasonable) support are free.

    Sure will.
