Sidebar alignment problem

    I am attempting to get my sidebar (the ‘Recent News’ and ‘Links’ sections) to sit about 20px to the right of the vertical dotted line but they’re about 20px to the left. I’m using the ‘Charliestic’ theme. Since the CSS contains ‘float: right;’ and ‘position: relative;’ tags, I’m not sure how to change the position without it displaying incorrectly.     Any chance of some help please? I’d really appreciate it.

    the css ur looking at is for your sidebar not the contents of the sidebar i believe it has something to do with your sidebar .box it was taking more time than i expected so i stopped finding the fix :/

    Nope, I’ve changed the margins and padding for the .box several times already but it hasn’t made any difference.

    Try using Firefox with the Firebug add-on for this kind of CSS work.

    I’m sorry but it is beyond the scope of these forums to teach CSS. Try asking on a general CSS forum.

    I have an issue with my portfolio slideshow not playing as well, is there any way you can assist me with that please?

    the sidebar issue is possibly caused by the validation errors:

    there is definitively one </div> too many in or after the ‘search’ widget in the sidebar, which ‘ends’ the sidebar div and leaves the other widgets hanging around.

    I can’t see any ‘portfolio’ slideshow (?)

    by inspecting the element, the problem is your div.widget_text is not inside the your div#sidebar

    and by checking their demo, they have a different sidebar HTML structure than yours.

    are you using an updated version of the theme?

    Thanks for the help with the sidebar lads, all fixed now.

    ‘Portfolio Slideshow’ is the name of the plugin I am using. For some reason it will only show up the first photo in the gallery (though I only have 2 at this stage) but it will not slide through to the second. I’ve used the plugin before and never had this issue.

    Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

    I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin multiple times (even removed the entire thing via FTP and re-uploaded a newly downloaded version) and still it’s not working. I’m suspecting it must be a clash with the theme but I’m not sure where. Any ideas?
