  • Can you post a link to your site? At the risk of posting a dumb question, can you verify that you have widgets assigned to the side area and that they haven’t been accidentally removed?

    Hi,

    Thanks for answering.

Here is my test-site for Twenty Seventeen.

And yes, in my Apperance settings widgets are assigned to the side area. They were in the right hand area in Twenty Sixteen but disappeared when I installed Twenty Seventeen.

    I have the same problem.
Update to WP 4.7 + Twenty Seventeen installed and activated
Widgets are assigned to sidebar (not visible!) and footer (visible).
Customizer is showing the assigned widgets, which can be rearranged/customized too, but not on site preview or – after saving – on site pages. Content is displayed centred and no sidebar is shown.
Switched back to Twenty Sixteen: sidebar works
Switched again to Twenty Seventeen: no sidebar
Tested with all plugins deactivated: no sidebar
removed and reassigned widgets: no sidebar

Pages don’t have sidebar in Twenty Seventeen but blog post do have. Could this be the case what you’re seeing?

Yes, @samikeijonen. It was as simple as that. Thanks!!!

What do you say, @burnuser, resolved?

Yes, sidebar is visible on posts.
But with no sidebar on pages, Twenty Seventeen is useless for me.
Thank You for this important info Sami!

hello dear Burnuser hello dear Nils,

thanks for posting your questions – thanks for sharing.

Well afaik the main difference of 16 to 17 is that 17 is arranged in a totally other way&mode.

Guess that all that you have in the 2016 sidebar will move into the footer?!

    Is this correct!?

    love to hear from you

    No.
