    Hi All,

I went to my website this morning to find that on the index page the sidebar is no longer there. On all the other pages the sidebar still appears.

The only thing I did today was add a new post, and I never tinker with any of the code or settings so not sure how this could happen.

Actually having just scrolled down I have found the sidebar at the very bottom of the blog!

Any idea how I fix this?

    Hi

Yes it does have a few XHTML errors, they have always been there.

The sidebar is underneath all your posts. Please fix the XHTML errors first. If it still persists it is a css issue. Probably the flash you try to embed in the first post causes this problem. url:'https://www.virtualmosque.co.uk/videos/30072010khutba.m4v'
Delete that as Samuel B said and you have your sidebar back

hmmmm that m4v video has been there for a few days with no issues, and the sidebar was fine.

Only this morning after I made a post (not deleted) did the sidebar move to the bottom of the page

If its a css issue would not not cause all the pages to lose the sidebar?

Sorry I posted above not deleted, I meant NOW deleted.

Yes, so that suggests you fix your html first. Or something in the not deleted post is to wide making the sidebar go under your content
[edit] We can only check the css if the html validates

begin with these errors “end tag for “div” omitted”

    Thread Starter mudman

    (@mudman)

Alot of those errors are from embeds I copied and pasted from sites like youtube, so dont know why they come up as errors.

The only end tag for “div” I saw was the last comment and it is from the footer which was generated by the theme.

All I have done is install wordpress and then add a theme, and add pages. I havent been fiddling with the code so dont know why those errors come up or how really to correct them.

The only thing not working right with the whole site, is that the sidebar has moved and only for the home page, if the flash embed made the change then should it of not also made the sidebar move on the linked page?

    Moderator keesiemeijer

    (@keesiemeijer)

Maybe it is not the flash embed. But I’m not going to look at your css before you fix this:

end tag for “div” omitted, but OMITTAG NO was specified
    </body>
Line 54, Column 1: start tag was here <div id=”wraper”>

This error is produced by your theme or a plugin.
    try:
    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

Did you edit the style sheet or sidebar.php file of your design?

I think you must reduce the width of your sidebar objects. You can change the width from the CSS (Style Sheet) of your design.

    Thanks

Right I disabled all the plugins, and it made no difference, the sidebar on the home page still stays at the bottom, but is fine in all the other pages.

That error you have highlighted keesiemeijer is from the theme, it has been there since day one, but never had this issue ever.

    I have sorted that error
