Side bar doesn’t auto-focus to page widgets in IE

I’m not sure if this is a problem with this plug-in or the theme that I’m using.
I have a number of pages that use the Organic Customizer template. When I edit these pages using Chrome, FF, or Edge, the left-hand navigation to customize widgets will auto-focus to the widgets for that specific page. The URL includes instructions for the browser to do this e.g.
When I edit the page in IE, it doesn’t respect that auto-focus instruction. It loads the left-hand navigation with the default view of customizing the general site.
I have a few relatively non-technical content editors. Is there a solution to this other than telling them to switch their browser? Thanks.
