My side bar suddenly showed up at the bottom of my page. I read some postings on here to try to fix it, but now my page isn’t looking so good. Can someone please help me get it back to normal. Let me know if you need anything else from me. Thanks.

I see you fixed yours now. How? Mine just started doing the same thing: https://www.tonyaplank.com/swan_lake_samba_girl/ but it’s only on the main page that it goes to the bottom. If you click on one of the posts, it’s normal — on the side. Also, I tried to make changes to my blogroll, but the changes only show up on those pages where the sidebar is to the side, not on the main page, where it’s at the bottom. Finally, I can’t seem to change links on my blogroll to a different category at all. All new links I post are showing up automatically in one specific category.

    Thanks .

I noticed that you also had yours fixed. I just posted a new post this morning and it suddenly shot all of my sidebar content on my homepage to the bottom. I have looked around on the forums and found many people have had this problem, but I tried all of them and nothing seems to work.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Link to your site please and the post that pushed the sidebar to the bottom.

My server is down right now, but it should be up within the hour (this happens every so often). The post that caused this is the most recent one on May 7, 2009.

As a matter of fact, the theme I am using currently breaks entirely as you can see. Would it be better if I changed the theme to give you an example of the problem?

Hmm. Maybe, because I don’t even see a sidebar.

Generally, if the issue occured immediately after you published a post, you’ll want to check that post for errors.

Did you forget to close a tag? Did you insert a pic/video that might potentially be too wide for your content div? If you unpublish or remove the content from the post, does it fix the problem?

If you determine it’s not a single post causing the problem, then you generally look elsewhere in your code for unclosed tags, etc. It helps to validate your site (part 1 and 2), too. Even if fixing the validation errors doesn’t fix the problem (which it may), you’ve at least ruled out some issues.

And if all of that doesn’t fix it, you can try manually adjusting your div widths. Using Firefox with an addon that let’s you edit CSS in real time helps with this.

Thanks. I went and re-made the post with fresh formatting. There was an error somewhere, but I used my code editor to try and find it but still couldn’t, but it is now fixed.

    Again thanks for the help!

On my home page https://www.mattfreedman.com.au the sidebar was at the bottom, but on other pages it wasn’t. Thanks to the comments above I clicked on each post on the homepage one by one until I found the one that was throwing the template out. I then went and edited it, stripping all formatting and starting again. This fixed it.
