Showing tags when I link to my blog

Is the behavior same in all social media sites? Can you provide a link or screenshot of what you observe as odd that needs to be turned off?

I’m having a similar issue when posting a link on Facebook to Holy Cross Anglican School. Only in my case, the default tagline, ‘Just another WordPress site’ is appearing instead of the one I created. Still haven’t figured this one out.

Ok, here it is on our facebook page. Right after it says ‘Don’t Forget A Towel’

Well in the title of your website, you have tags instead of the title of the page.

Facebook is grabbing the <meta name="title"> contents.

So how does one go about getting rid of that? I’m new to this whole html blogging thing. Hahaha. Sorry

In the admin panel

It doesn’t seem to be there. I have a tagline but all those tags still show up

Explore your settings and if you still can’t find it, it may be hard-coded into the header.php file, which you can have a look in there.

“Tagline” in the settings > general panel is different from “Tags.” Tagline is the blurb about your site which comes after the Name. Like if your site name was RedRules.Com then the tagline might be So Much Better than Blue!

My problem is different. The tagline in the settings is correct.. but somehow facebook catches the default.

I see what you mean now. I hadn’t opened the image you linked. In your case, the tags are showing, not only in facebook links, but in your actual title as well. Try disabling plugins, specifically any SEO plugins, and see if that helps.
