I’ve been deploying Woocommerce websites since 2018 and of late, It feels to me that what microsoft ex ceo did to nokia, your developers want to do the same to your brilliant piece of software. Take for example the latest BS you have with your latest update . Even for virtual products you want to display an optional Billing field of state and there’s no way to disable it !

While i’m not sure of your intention here to harass woocommerce users with uncalled changes like this, it seems clear to me that whoever is taking the decisions like this at your policy making does not have the best interest of this company at their heart.

Good luck with whatever you do because your company really needs it given the ill intent changes you have been making in this brilliant software to drive customers to other options.

    Hello simpoo,

Thank you for sharing your feedback.

I understand your frustration regarding the recent changes. However, please note that the billing field, even for virtual products, is necessary to help prevent fraud and ensure secure transactions, especially with credit card payments.

We are always working to improve the WooCommerce experience while adhering to best security practices in an ever-evolving online environment.

If you have any other concerns or questions, feel free to share them, and I’d be happy to assist further.

    Have a great day!

I’ve been working with fraud-check and new methods deployment since 2003 , long before woocommerce came and if a store selling virtual goods with non-reversible payment methods does not want the state details , why should they be forced to because YOU Think its right !
The whole idea of an open source software is to let users make their own choices.

For example, a client of mine sells counseling session times with payment via UPI which is a non reversible method so why would they want the state to be there ?

Your recent changes means 1 rule for all of the world which is not the right approach .

    Hello simpoo,

Thank you for sharing your feedback, I completely understand your perspective, especially when dealing with non-reversible payment methods like UPI for virtual goods. Your point is certainly valid in this context.

However, WooCommerce’s current approach is designed to cater to a broader global customer base, which is why certain requirements, like the inclusion of state details, are in place.

That said, I encourage you to share your suggestion on our Feature Request portal so it can be considered for future updates:

    Have a great day!
