    Hi,

You can set it on Settings / WP Related Items menu, on the appropriate page setting tab (e.g on Post Page tab).
You will find a List / Thumbnail column, when you can select the display format of related items. You can set it for all type of related items separately (e.g. you can set that on of your related post type displayed as a list, and the other post type as thumbnail).

Please ensure that you have done the suggested YARPP settings displayed on YARPP Settings tab page of WRI plugin settings page (e.g Turn off Automatically display checkbox in YARPP)

This behavior can have other reasons, please read plugin documentation here:
    https://webshoplogic.com/product/wp-related-items-pro-wri-wordpress-plugin/#tab-faq

I hope this information will help you to solve the problem.

It is set for thumbnails, not list.

I have no settings available to select on the YARPP settings tab in WRI, just text.

As far as I can tell from the documentation, I am doing everything correctly.

We have not got enough information to find the reason of it.
Please send some screenshots about the plugin settings page tabs, and the displayed related items list. Maybe these help us to evaluate this case.

    Thanks,
    Peter

I tried to but your email server bounced it back:

“Hi. This is the qmail-send program at bounce.mail.unifiedlayer.com.
I’m afraid I wasn’t able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I’ve given up. Sorry it didn’t work out.

    <[email protected]>:

Our email address is [email protected], but you sent it to <[email protected]>, according to the above note.
So the ‘i’ may missing in the beginning in your e-mail.

    Hi Josh!

We have analysed the screenshots you sent by e-mail.
Your settings looks like good, so I suppose this problem is not because of your settings.

Please check if “wp-content\themes\YOUR_ACTIVE_THEME\wri_template” directory. If not, please deactivate and then activate WRI plugin in WordPress Plugins menu, and check if this directory is created.

You can find a little bit more detailed description here, at the end of the page:
    https://webshoplogic.com/product/wp-related-items-pro-wri-wordpress-plugin/#tab-faq

We hope this will solve the problem.

It was not, and that did create the directory. Now it works! Thanks!

This directory should be automatically created during the first activation of the plugin, but this may failed, or you changed your theme afterward, so the directory remains in your old theme’s directory.
Reactivation of the plugin create this directory, so it solved the problem.

We are happy to the issue is solved.

It is a bit of an inconvenience that every time there is a theme update you must remember to deactivate and reactivate the plugin. Is there a workaround for this?

    Plugin Author WebshopLogic

    (@webshoplogic)

    Unfortunately there is no workaround.

This plugin based on YARPP plugin, and create templates for YARPP, to display related items. YARPP can use only those templates that is located in your active theme directory. That is why there is no workaround in our plugin. Of course YARPP can be changed, but this is not our task.

Themes are rarely changed, and when you change your theme there are much more thing to be done, that is why I think this is not a big restriction and these two plugins can be used together.

(If YARPP dissolve the restriction mentioned, we can change the template handling.)
