Showing file dir after installation

I installed wordpress on localhost so I can play with it!

The installation said it was successful and gave me my password, however when I click the login button from the installation it just lists the dir/files that were in the folder.

I can click on the profile.php file and it will take me to the correct page and I can do anything under the profile.php including changing themes and adding plugins. But when you click the blog link up at the top it goes back to the directory.

I tried just entering the address manualy to the index.php but it shows the dir of files as index.php.

If I type in the address for the wp-login.php it works, that page works, but again once I enter in my login information it takes me to the dir.

Any suggestions!
