• Unfortunately, given your stern warnings, what I really want to do is show the full content of the listed posts on the page.
As you say the template use is not easy. I’ve done as instructed and put a template copied from default into a folder in the theme folder. The template is called hcaps14.php
Whether I put the template parameter into the shortcode on the page or not seems to make no difference, the page loads extremely slowly: 10-15secs and looks the same either way.
    I have tried variations on this shortcode – [catlist template=hcaps14 name=Handicaps14 date=yes content=yes numberposts=5 pagination=yes] – where the category of post selected is Handicaps14

Is the use of the template correct? Should it work straight off?
I presume also you are supposed to define css rules for lcp-content, lcp-excerpt etc. If you haven’t, will it affect the template? Removing them made no difference.

  • Hi, I can’t immediately see anything wrong with what you are doing.

Is the problem that you aren’t seeing any output, or that it’s taking a long time?

It takes a VERY long time, and as I said, the template doesn’t seem to make any difference. I have to admit I’ve rather lost track of this problem after discovering that you can make pages from categories, which load quickly with posting dates. You can insert some html in the header to get intro text.
