Showing all downloads by category – direct download rather than download page?
-
First of all, this plug-in is great. It’s just what I needed for my government website. However, there are a couple of usability things I’m wondering about. (I searched and looked through several pages of the support forum and couldn’t find an answer to my questions, so hopefully I’m not doubling up here.)
Firstly, is there a way to customize the built-in search shortcode? ([sdm_search_form]) It works perfectly for searching by individual file names, but it would be helpful if it could also search and return results related to the categories I’ve defined. Is there a way to add that functionality to the shortcode? (Tertiary, absolutely not important follow-up: Is there a way to add a button to clear the search results?)
Secondly, I’m using the shortcode to list all of the available downloads by category in a tree. ([sdm_download_categories]). And again, this works great. But when it lists them, I would like users to be able to simply download right from the list, rather than open the download page for each individual file. Load the page with the tree, click a category to see all of the files, click a file to download it instantly. Boom bang bop, done. Basically, can I change it so that the link for a list item launches the download rather than navigating to the download page? Is this possible?
Thank you for your time.
Ryan
