Showing a paginated wp_query

    This is what I am trying to accomplish: A separate blog.php page theme within my theme. Im using wp_query to make the loop, but when I try to implement a pagenavi function located in functions.php (which is working really well on the front and archive pages), it just won’t work.

    Being somewhat of a noob in PHP, and with little understanding of how WordPress works (hey, I’m learning), I just can’t seem to figure this one out myself. Therefore I ask here, and I hope someone can help me solve this.
