• This problem appeared when I upgraded from 4.6.(4?) to 4.7.1

On: Dashboard -> Customising Static Front Page
I set “Front page displays” to “Your latest posts” and the save and publish this setting.

At this point my frontpage correctly shows my latests posts.

But, the moment I press the X to close the customizer, the setting reverts to “a static page”.

Which function could be responsible for this resetting?

  • Check ‘Reading’ under ‘settings’

Try to change the front page there.

    Hi,
Please make sure you press “Save And Publish” before pressing “X” button.
    Everything will work fine.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the quick replies.

I’ve found the problem & solution.
As always it was an unfortunate plugin interference.

The “disable blogging”-plugin has a setting which can (as you might have guessed) disable “blogging”. Not only does this block posting, it apparently also silently sets the show_on_front setting to “page” every time the dashboard gets loaded.

And this setting was somehow triggered by the upgrade.
(By the way, I use the plugin for its commenting disabling functionality.;)

    Thanks!
