Show variations as a image dropdown

I did some searching to try and find a way to show variation images in the dropdown – the closest I was able to find was this discussion around using JavaScript:

You could probably make this happen using custom code as described above, but I wasn’t able to find an existing solution for you. If you want to pursue this and need help with the development, I highly recommend contacting one of the services on our customizations page: https://woocommerce.com/customizations/

Otherwise, the next closest thing that I can recommend is indeed the WooCommerce Variation Swatches:
