How to make your searcher look in a specific file

  • Hi!

    I am relatively new in Web Design and I don’t know how to do this, or even if it is easy enough to do it myself or if I have to hire a programmer.

    I am designing a website in wordpress the company has and area for collections and my client asked me if I can have search field in the website where the user enters their id number and find out if they have any debt. So what I am guessing is that my client should have a database (probably an excel document) with the information: with name, last name, id number and the debt amount and somehow make that particular search field to look in that particular excel file.

    Hopefully somebody knows how to do this..

  • OOh, I’d highly recommend a pro for this….

    It’s possible we could get you some WP based functionality for this…

    But you are moving waaaay outside of the WP sphere as far as privacy issues go here IMHO….

    Opening up that kind of PII (Personally Identifiable Information) in a simple WP and spreadsheet, or database, environment is a major red flag.

    Systems like this require additional security to be certain!! Dunno if you’ve considered all that legal aspect mumbo jumbo….

    Sorry to hijack your thread and not answer your original question… (I’m not a computer/WP guy by profession, but security is definitely my field) just wanna make sure your considering all aspects of the issue…
