• Changing this value doesn’t seem to make any difference, every post shows up on the front page… I’m starting to get alot of posts now and want to trim this down a bit.
I did a search on the forums and found posts that address this problem, but didn’t find any solution to it. Is there anything I can modify to make this work? Even if it is something I can put in manually to limit the posts to 5 or 10 that would be great ??
    Thanks,
    Kristin

I use the build from 03-21-2004

upgrade and check… 21 march now seems too old

Sushubh – what are you trying to say? I’m still on a nightly from FEBRUARY, and it’s working fine for me….. jsut waiting for the 1.2 final….

what i am trying to say is, different nightlies suffer from different bugs. so maybe the 21st march nightly had soem bug with showing the recent xx posts or so. the reason being it has worked fine with me everytime…

I’ll try upgrading it this weekend when I get some time and see if it makes a difference.

ok, so I upgraded and it didnt make a difference. I realize now that it is because I have:
    $cat = 1;
    in my index.php
so if anyone has any other solution it would be a great help

I didn’t, I set it to 5. If I remove the $cat=1; it shows only 5. If I put the $cat=1; back it shows all of the posts from that category..

that worked! Don’t know why I didn’t try that lol
    thanks alot ??

Even though you said you had set it correctly the first time (when I used posts paged), I figured that must be the problem so I pulled out the big guns with posts paged ??

I have the same problem. It’s interesting, when using posts paged it works. However I want to show the last 7 days, instead it displays every post.
No $cat = 1; in my index file.

Oh yeah, I’m on the delta release now, I’ve seen this problem for the past several days of nightly releases. Also including the original 1.2 beta release.

Need to know more. I just tried it and does not return all posts for me (though when set to 5 days the last post returned was dated 5/2).

Well, after going through the database – to make sure the settings were changing properly (they were). On a hunch, I ran the upgrade script again. Oddly enough this solved the problem.
Maybe there is a bug wrapped up in there somewhere. Unfortunately, I don’t know that this will be an easily repeated bug.
Since that seems to be working, maybe in the next couple days I’ll upgrade my site to 1.2. (currently running locally)

Ok, I have a similar issue to this one, but reading the thread I can’t see a solution.

I have a ‘$cat=-5;’ so that my category five posts are not displayed on index.php but I also want to limit index.php to 5 posts max.

I’m on the latest stable release (1.2.2 I think).

    Cheers,
    S.
