Show “text” when dates is empty

    Hello,
    I would like to show a sentence like “Date to come” when Event start date is empty instead of “01.01.1970”.
    I tried some functions and combinations on templates but I can not get it to work.
    I am websigner and I am not very good in php language so I dont know how customizing code while keeping the function date format “$date_format = WP_Event_Manager_Date_Time::get_event_manager_view_date_format();
    echo date_i18n( $date_format, strtotime(get_event_start_date())”
