• I am new to wordpress and about to build a new site to replace parts of my old one. I would be glad if someone can give me a tips on a plugin to fix a function.

Now when a screen is too small for the sidebar it moves down below the main content. Instead I would like it to hide and show a hamburger button to slide it out like a side panel.

  • There are many themes that do this. The theme usually controls the menus, not plugins, although plugins can.

    Thank you Joy.
I did not find any themes that do this, can you recommend me one?

No, I can’t. I know I have reviewed several that do this (I noticed because I don’t like it at all), but I don’t know which ones.
The search on the Themes page searches the description also, so put words you think the author might use to describe that feature.

OK, I will search. May I ask why you don′t like it?

I see the sidebar as part of the page content. The admin can put navigation, callouts, promotions, search, extra info about the page, whatever, and it should be visible without having to click something. Most users will think the hamburger icon is the menu, not the sidebar, so they will not click it. The user shouldn’t be shown less information just because they are using a mobile device.

My plan was to have a menu and the cart in the sidebar, and this way I would not have to have one button to show menu and one to show the cart.
