Show recurrence pattern of recurring events (not individual instances)

I’ve trawled the forum, but not found anyone asking this – quite surprised to be honest!

Is there a way of listing the recurring events by recurrence pattern, rather than occurrence? So I’d have a table listing a single instance of each recurring event, with the time showing as (eg) “Every Thursday at 9am”

I did this in a really hacky way before, by setting up seven categories, one for each day of the week, and adding individual occurences of each event, and scope=”past” (told you it was hacky), but the drawback was that I couldn’t then display ALL recurrences on a calendar.
