Show Recent Posts as featured images on home page

I am trying to have my recent posts show up as just the featured image on my site. The example of what I want to do is at https://www.ourbestbites.com. They have “recent bites” and then the last 5 posts they posted listed just with their featured image. I am new to WordPress and am trying to figure this out. I have been searching the forum for days and haven’t found anything that works.
