Show prices including tax

  • I’m new to eShop and I like what I see so far. However there is one minor (or for me major) nuisance.
    In Sweden, where I live and work, you need to disclose sales tax on all receipts, otherwise you are guilty of a tax crime. eShop is able to add tax to all orders, but only at check out. I’d like the customer to be able to see all prices including tax and the cart to display a total including tax. I know that this poses a problem if you have different tax rates for different zones. But if I only sell within one zone this is pretty annoying.

    So, can I display all prices including tax and make the cart display a total including taxes?
    I want the tax to be added from tax band 1 (local tax rate for my Country).
    For Sweden, in most cases tax is 25%.

    What one could do is simply recalculate the cart in the check out. The including tax column then display the same total as in the regular cart and the excluding tax column display a figure which is 25% less. If I could manage to do this and have it printed on the receipt I would be more than happy.

    I guess editing the cart-functions.php along the lines of this hack could do the trick?

    Not sure where to start though.

    Essentially what I want to do is just show the tax directly in the cart (before check out).
    Couldn’t one just change the item value and sub total value to show including tax instead of excluding?

    I see the future of eShop moving to ShopWord, since this plugin get’s no real support. I’ve been using Ubercart to get ideas and some of this eShop is getting entirely rewritten thanks to Obama and my lack of a JOB.
