Is there some way I can show the YouTube player ONLY if a YouTube LIVE broadcast is in progress and show a message saying we are not currently broadcasting if there is no Live broadcast in progress currently?

We recently switched from UStream to YouTube Live and are missing this feature…

    We much appreciate your help!

    Thank you!

    Hi zainghani,

no, this feature is not implemented yet.

I take you question as a feature request and will implement it soon. Hope you can wait a few days.

Thank you for the good suggestion

    hi zainghani,

I built in your requested feature.

Now you can set a “no live message” with the options page, short_code or template tag.

    THIS is awesome!

May I request a small addition? If it’s possible, I would love to see the upcoming live event already embedded, so the YouTube Live countdown is visible before the event.

What would also be amazing, but I know much harder work, is if this embed could automatically update to display the live event when I go live, without a page refresh. But I know that’s asking a lot.

UPDATE: I started getting into the code and I figured out a way to embed the next upcoming event if there isn’t any active live event. Woohoo! I forked it on GitHub from a WP Plugin Mirror.

I would love to contribute back to your plugin.

(There are also issues coming with the YouTube API since 2.0 is deprecated.)

Now to figure out the automatic refresh.

Version 2.3 is now out and it works well for this use. (I use it myself now on my live site.)

Let’s assume you schedule two YouTube Live events. They both must be set to Public.

Before you’re live, the plugin will display the YouTube Live countdown to your next event.

When you go live, the countdown automatically changes to your live video.

When your live video is finished, the player stops. After a page refresh, the countdown to your next live video will display.

After your next live event has ended, and if you don’t have any other scheduled events, the player goes away and the “not live” message displays, or you should be able to leave this blank to let your last YouTube upload display.

Update to 2.3 and try it out!

Is there anyway to have two or more simultaneous live streams pulled instead of just one at a time?
    Awesome plugin btw.

@mixahl, that’s a separate issue. But the only way to do that at the moment is to use different YouTube channels via the shortcode.
