Show only Child Categories and Recent Posts for Particular Post Browsed

  • Help! Really need some help here and I am not quite finding what I need in the support archives.

    Here’s my deal:
    I am using a theme where a static page is my homepage and my homepage has feeds on it to three separate blog categories. Latest version of WP.

    I have three parent categories only.

    What I want: When you are looking at a post or list of posts from a parcticular category, I want only the children and recent posts of that particular category to show in the sidebar.

    Will be so incredibly grateful for any assistance!
