• I am using Photonic Gallery with Google Photos. Everything generally works very well.

I am facing an annoying issue with a large gallery, however. I have specified the number of photos to show as 50 and added a Show More… button to load more images in stages.

However, when a user clicks the Show More… button, the photos are loaded above the button and the focus remains on the button. In other words, the user loses their place and new images load above the button which means that it is hard to find where you were before and necessitates scrolling up the page again.

Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround? Any help gratefully received.

    Thanks.

I have done some more testing and found that this issue does not occur with Firefox but it is present with the latest version of Google Chrome.

This hasn’t been reported as an issue, because, depending on your browsing pattern this might be desired or expected behaviour. E.g. Some users have a tendency to keep clicking “Load More” till all photos have loaded, and then they start using the lightbox to go through the photos. If they don’t do so, the process of browsing through the lightbox gets interrupted (you reach the end of the gallery, close it, click “Load more”, an repeat). So, if you want to get everything loaded before you browse through the gallery, Chrome’s way of handling it would be the desired behaviour.

Ok, but is there a way to enable progressive browsing so that the images load in the correct place?

I want the Firefox behaviour in Chrome, basically. I understand what you are saying about browsing platforms but, to me, the fact that the plugin behaves one way in Firefox and another way in Chrome is a bug rather than a feature.

I understand what you are saying, and I would agree this is a bug. It is something I will pencil in for a fix, but it will be really low on my list as it is not broken behaviour (like being unable to see more photos upon clicking), rather it is an inconsistency between the native behaviour of two different browsers for a common scenario. In general I don’t tinker with this sort of behaviour because people normally stick to using a single browser and they adapt to the behaviour of the browser.
