Show latest 3 Posts from all Blogs

I’ve been trying to get this to work correctly and am very close, but I’ve hit a wall with a couple of issues.

I’m trying to Query the most Recent Posts from all blogs on the Network (there are only 3 blogs) and display them on the Master Site. I’ve been able to Query the Posts and Content but I’ve found a couple problems with my code:

1. I am trying to limit the Query to only 3 posts, but I’m getting the 3 latest posts from each blog – which for 3 blogs, I’m getting 9 posts. How can I correct this to limit to only 3 posts over all blogs.

2. The Permalink uses the Current Sites URL which gives me a 404 error.
