Got a google search console error for a big content mismatch on my frontpage.

My frontpage is a big wall of text. Yet the AMP page is an overview of my blog’s posts.

I have tried to fix this by playing around with the “show/hide AMP” and “use custom AMP” settings.

This does not resolve the problem.

One of your lesser competing plugins had the option of checking ‘generate AMP page’ per post/page.

It would help to have that, so you can see which of your pages will show AMP and which ones won’t.

It would also help if it actually worked. ??

    Hi @jwbats

Can you share the URL where you face this issue?

Also, if you want to show a custom frontpage on the AMP, you can do that from the general settings.

Actually we have an option which allows you to show / hide AMP by posts or pages. It’s available in the metabox of the specific post and It usually works perfectly fine.

Do let me know if you have trouble finding those options, I’ll give you a hand in setting up the AMP.

It happens on every site that I try it. Here is how to reproduce it:

    1. Configure a page as your WP site’s front page.
    2. Set ‘show/hide amp’ to ‘hide’ for this front page.
    3. Visit your front page.

    Expected behavior:

No AMP page is shown for the front page.

(And if you set it to ‘show’, it would have to show the AMP version of said page, not an undesired post listing.)

    Actual behavior:

AMP4WP shows a post/page listing. The AMP version of the front page is now completely different than the non-AMP version of the front page. This gets people “Major Content Mismatch” errors from Google search console.

This can have a real impact on people’s SEO. For this reason, this issue should have high priority.

I just found out you can disable AMP for the frontpage in the general settings.

That helps solve the major content mismatch error, because it gets rid of the post listing.

However, when I set the front page’s individual AMP setting to ‘show’, it still won’t render the AMP version of that particular page.

The ‘Enable AMP Support on Homepage’ setting should read ‘Enable AMP Post List on Homepage’.

Then, ‘showing’ AMP on your designated front page should render the AMP version of that page on the front page.

    This would solve everything.

Also, it would help if ‘show/hide’ AMP was shown in post/page overviews. It’ll be easier to see which posts/pages have AMP pages.

    This solves everything.

Ignore everything I wrote. My argument is invalid.
